
Purpose: to retrofit the Audi A1 8X tail lights from halogen to LED.
Procedure:
1 – Engine off, ignition off, connect your official VAG-COM VCDS cable to the computer, then plug the other end into your vehicle’s diagnostics socket.
2 – Switch on the ignition then run the VCDS program.
Line 1:
3 – Click on“Select” then click on“09 – Cent. Elect.”. Switch on the ignition and run the VCDS program.
4 – Click on“Coding 07”.
5 – Select the “0” module and click on “Long Coding Helper”:
6 – In the window that appears, select
Byte 18: (to be modified in the hex box)
6E = halogen front, LED rear
6F = halogen front, LED rear (tail lights light up with DRL)
72 = xenon front, LED rear
73 = xenon front, LED rear (tail lights light up with DRL)
7 – After this operation, click on the “Output” menu
Then validate “OK”.

New vehicle-side sockets are required for pre-lifting and lifting. New pins, however, only when converting to lifting; when converting to LED pre-lifting, the old pins are suitable. Pin assignment for LED as follows:
- Left connector pinout:
Pin 1: brown
Pin 2: black/yellow
Pin 3: green/yellow (grey/green)
Pin 4: black/white
Pin 5: black/blue
Pin 6: grey/white
- Straight connector pinout:
Pin 1: brown
Pin 2: black/violet
Pin 3: green/yellow (grey/green)
Pin 4: black/green
Pin 5: black/blue
Pin 6: grey/white
