VCDS: Cooling circuit purge

Cooling system drain (LDR) procedure with VCDS ?

For diesel engine EA288 (1.4TDI, 1.6TDI, 2.0TDI) and petrol engine EA888 (1.8 & 2.0 TSI / TFSI)

Why can’t these engines be purged the old-fashioned way, or at least not easily?
In the past, to bleed a circuit, all you had to do was fill the circuit, idle the engine until the calorstat opened to bleed the engine, and open the heater to bleed the heating circuit. In some cases, air bubbles could be easily evacuated using bleed screws at the top of the circuit.
The EA288 motor is equipped with:
– A traditional cooling circuit, but the mechanical water pump is fitted with an electrically-controlled bell which allows it to be “disengaged” according to T°C conditions.
– A charge air cooler circuit equipped with an additional electric pump
– A heating circuit also equipped with an additional electric pump.
– In some cold countries, these engines are equipped with auxiliary heaters.
Since these engines have the particularity of not heating up much (when the needle reads 90°, the actual temperature doesn’t even reach 80°), we had to add a number of devices to ensure that, in winter, not only could the engine reach operating temperature quickly, but also that passengers could enjoy warm air from the ventilation nozzles from the very first kilometers.

As the system is so voluminous (nearly 8.5L on the 2.0TDI) and riddled with valves and pumps that can’t be opened or controlled manually, it’s virtually impossible to bleed the system properly without spending ages on it. In the case of the heating circuit, for example, the valves are electrically controlled, so if the sensor that gives the command to open the valve is in an air pocket, you can always turn the heating knob to the red, but the valve will never open.
Using VCDS, you can control these valves and pumps cyclically, enabling you to purge the circuit without fear of any remaining air.

The procedure consists of 2 steps. The first consists of purging the engine cooling circuit while the engine is running, while the second consists of purging the low-temperature part of the engine when the engine is stopped.

WARNING, you must have a fully charged battery or a connected charger/maintainer (the latter is strongly recommended)!!!!

Step 1, purge engine cooling circuit.

Fill up the expansion tank, connect the VCDS, switch on the ignition without starting and connect to the 01-Motor ECU.
[16-Secure access] enter the code proposed by VCDS if necessary
[10-Adaptations]: “IDE08287-Cooling circuit air purge control > new value = Enabled> [Save!]

Wait 10 sec and start the engine at idle.
[04-Basic settings] > [Display measurement data] Check the values:
IDE00021 / IDE00322 / IDE00450 / IDE00787 / IDE07725

Leave this window open, then return to
[04-Basic settings]: “IDE08087-Control – cooling circuit air purge > [Go!]

Keep the brake and gas pedal pedals depressed (use shims to avoid cramping…)
This stage lasts about 15 minutes, with the engine alternating between idle, 2500 and 3000 rpm
During this stage, keep an eye on the fluid level in the vessel!

The process is underway…

At the end of the cycle, the lines IDE00322 and IDE00450 indicate that this step is complete – click on [Stop].

Stop the motor

Step 2, purge the low-temperature circuit.
[16-Secure access] enter the code proposed by VCDS if necessary
[04-Basic settings] > [Display measurement data] check the values:
IDE00021 / IDE00085 / IDE00322 / IDE00450 / IDE00451 / IDE00787 / IDE07725

Leave this window open, then return to
[04-Basic settings]: “IDE04795-Control – low-temperature circuit air purge > 4S > [Go!]

This stage lasts about 10 minutes, and you can hear the various pumps working, the pipes gurgling and bubbles occasionally rising in the vase.

At the end of the cycle, the IDE00322 lines indicate that this step has been completed and you can click on [Stop].

Repeat step 2 at least 2 times (3 times in total) and as many times as necessary as long as the “gurgling” sound is heard and/or bubbles are rising in the vessel.

Check the fluid level before going for a test drive (take a can in the trunk and check the level after driving a few km).

Tire Pressure Reset (TPMS)

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) on Volkswagen vehicles is an essential tool for ensuring your safety and optimizing the life of your tires. After adjusting tire pressure or changing tires, it is often necessary to reset this system. Here’s a step-by-step guide to carrying out this operation on different Volkswagen models.

Important notes

1 – When to reset the tire pressure system?

After adjusting tire pressure.
After replacing one or more tires.
In the event of an erroneous TPMS warning.
After tire rotation.

If the tire pressure warning light remains on despite an attempt to reset it using the button in the glovebox (e.g. on a Golf 6) or in the CAR menu on the car radio, you can solve the problem using a diagnostic tool such as VCDS.

Context: RKA system

The RKA tire-pressure monitoring system (tire-pressure indicator) uses data from the ABS computer to detect anomalies. It does not measure pressure directly, but identifies deviations in wheel rotation.
The driver will inflate the tires to the correct set pressures, and the system will memorize them at the press of a button.
When a loss of pressure has been detected, the driver will be alerted by the tire pressure warning light, illuminated continuously on the speedometer, and at the same time by an audible signal.
The light remains on until the system is recalibrated.

Prerequisites

Ignition on: Make sure the ignition is switched on (engine off).
Correct pressure: Check that tires are inflated to manufacturer’s specifications.

2 – Reset steps via VCDS

You can reset your tire pressure via your display or glovebox button, but if you no longer have the original display (Android-style) or your button no longer works, you can reset with VCDS:

1. Vehicle connection

Connect the VCDS cable to the vehicle’s OBD-II port.
Connect the other end to the PC or compatible device.
Launch VCDS software.

2. ABS ECU access

For PQ35 vehicles (Golf 5/6 / Passat B6/B7 / Tiguan 1 …)

In the VCDS main menu, click on [Select].

Please note that the presence of the monitoring system does not exempt you from checking your tire pressure at least once a month.

In fact, since the system only monitors the difference in rotation speed of the wheels on the same axle, and if the wheels lose approximately the same pressure (a normal phenomenon over time), you could find yourself driving with under-inflated tires without any warning from the system!

4 – Reset Tire Pressure Indicator for Audi after 2018

How to reset tire pressure on Audi (A1 GB, A3 8Y, A4 B9, A5 F5, A6 C8, A7 C8, A8 D5, Q2 GA, Q3 F3, Q5 FY, Q7 4M, Q8 4M)

Step 1: Preparation

Before starting the reset, make sure all tires are inflated to the recommended pressure. Use a pressure gauge to check the pressure of each tire. Pressure specifications are available on the label inside the driver’s door or in the owner’s manual.

Step 2: Access Vehicle Settings

Settle into the interior of your Audi.
Insert the key and switch on the dashboard without starting the engine.
Use the central touchscreen to access the general menu.

Step 3: Menu navigation

Access the main touchscreen menu (Home logo).
Select the “Vehicle” option.
Navigate to “Settings and Maintenance”.
Select “Tire pressure check”.

Step 4: Reset tire pressure

Select the “Memorize tire pressures” option.
Confirm the reset by following the on-screen instructions.

Step 5: Verification and finalization

Switch off the dashboard once the reset is complete.
Restart the vehicle to check that the TPMS light has gone out.

5 – Important notes

TPMS light activated after reset: This may indicate a leak or incorrect pressure in one of the tires. Check tires and adjust if necessary.
Recommended pressure: Always consult your owner’s manual for the recommended pressure for your model.
Models with direct TPMS sensors: Some Volkswagen vehicles use sensors in each wheel. If the sensor is defective, it must be replaced.

What is SFD protection? (VCDS / OBDeleven)

The protection of vehicle diagnostics (SFD, Schutz Fahrzeug Diagnose) is an additional layer of security requiring authorization between the vehicle and the manufacturer. It helps protect against fraud by providing information on who has logged on to the control unit, as well as the date and time of the connection. This protection applies to models manufactured from 2020 onwards equipped with the MQB Evo (VW Golf 8, Škoda Octavia IV, Seat Leon IV, Audi A3 8Y, Q4, etc.) and MEB (VW ID.3, ID.4, Škoda Enyaq, etc.) platforms, limiting certain functionalities such as adaptations, coding and parameterization.

SFD-protected control units: engine electronics, central electrical system, instrument cluster, power supply circuits, multimedia unit, etc.

What is SFD2 / CEE?

1 – What is SFD?

From 2020, the VAG Group has introduced a new method of protecting vehicle diagnostics ( SFD ) , starting with the VW Golf 8, based on the MQBevo platform . Certain control units in new vehicles are then protected by SFD and can only be encoded or adjusted after entering a special token.

How to obtain this token is explained later in section 5 ( How do I obtain the activation token to open SFD-protected control units? ). SFD should be introduced gradually in 2 stages, which are explained below:

SFD – Level 1

This level includes access protection for modifications to control units, such as coding, adaptation and parameterization. Reading activities, such as reading the error memory or displaying blocks of measured values (actual values), are always possible without a token. What’s more, any changes made to control units are recorded at individual level to ensure traceability.

SFD – Level 2

This level builds on level 1 and also features tamper-proof protection for the diagnostic content. This means that changes to control units are made via a secure connection between the control unit and the vehicle manufacturer. This is also known as end-to-end protection.

In addition, strong user authentication is required for better logging (2-factor authentication, 2FA for short). This can be implemented, for example, using one of the following systems:

PKI cards
SecurID cards
Applications that can generate one-time passwords (e.g. Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator)

In the transition phase, weak authentication via the Group Retail Portal using a username and password should initially be possible. At the same time, the transition to strong authentication is being developed.

The entire SFD process requires an online connection to the diagnostic tester!

Does SFD also work offline?

There is a so-called fallback solution in the event of problems with the online method. This is explained in the points below:

Direct token recovery with diagnostic tester fails
The central unit’s activation request to generate the token is recorded locally
You log in to the group’s retail portal and enter the locally registered activation request.
- An activation token is generated, which can now be entered manually in the tester
Using a special function on the tester, the control unit checks the token and grants access after a successful verification.
- This feature is included in the latest version of VCDS, see : Can I bypass SFD with VCDS? ( Unlocking SFD with VCDS)

Why did VW launch SFD protection?

According to VW analyses, there is a growing need for data protection in control units. The previous procedure (activation using a 5-digit login code) no longer meets demand. For this reason, the protection of vehicle diagnostics, starting with the VW Golf 8, should gradually be introduced in all new vehicle models.

2 – Which calculators are currently protected by SFD?

Note: The list below shows controllers where we have already seen SFD. This does not mean that in every new vehicle, all these control units are protected by SFD. As far as we know, this varies from vehicle to vehicle or control unit to control unit. For example, in an Octavia IV, only 01 is SFD-protected, while in the next Octavia IV, 01, 09 and 19 are SFD-protected.

3- How do I know if my vehicle contains ECUs protected by SFD?

1 – If you haven’t already done so, download the latest version of VCDS from our VCDSpro website: https://vcdspro.de/downloads/#official-German-version

Note: the latest version of VCDS already shows you in the automatic analysis whether SFD-protected control units are installed in your vehicle.

2 – Run an automatic analysis

You can now display individual control units in detail in the automatic scan.

2.1 – If a control unit is protected by SFD, this is indicated by the abbreviation “SFD” at the end of the “VCID” line:

2.2 – If the abbreviation “SFD” is missing at the end of the line, there is no SFD protection.

2.3 – You will also find an example of an automatic scan in the appendix. In this example, you can see that 16 of the 36 control units are protected by SFD on this vehicle:

4 – Alternatively, you can open individual control units directly in VCDS

If it is an SFD-protected control unit, VCDS will show you the “SFD” button:

4 – Can I manage the VCDS (SFD)? (activate SFD with VCDS)

In the current version of VCDS, a function has been implemented for entering an offline SFD token. With the help of the offline token, SFD-protected ECUs can now be activated with VCDS. The function is explained in detail below.

How does SFD activation work?

1. Select the ECU protected by the SFD

2. The VCDS automatically detects that this is a protected ECU and offers SFD activation via the “SFD” button. This click

3. Now another window opens to activate the ecu

4. First, you need to read the SFD token from the ECU using the “Read token” – “Do It” option.

5. The token can then be copied to the clipboard using the “Copy” button.

6. From the token and chassis number, an activation key is calculated (see section 5: How to obtain the activation token to open SFD-protected ECUs).

7. The activation key can then be inserted into the VCDS mask in the “Release SFD” area by clicking on the “Paste” button and sent to the ECU via the “Do It” option.

8. The ecu confirms the question and is now suitable for write access (e.g. B. Coding).

5 – How can I obtain the unlocking token to open SFD-protected ECUs?

VCDS manufacturer Ross-Tech is already working on a solution for automatically opening SFD-protected ECUs with VCDS. This function is scheduled for release in 2024.

6 – How do I unlock SFD-protected control units with OBDeleven?

To simplify the use of SFD protection, we’ve created an automatic SFD unlock function that makes SFD protection almost invisible. If automatic SFD unlocking is activated and you try to change the long coding, adaptation or use the one-click applications in the locked control unit, the OBDeleven application will automatically request the SFD code from the Volkswagen servers, unlock the control unit and save the value you wish to change.

OBDeleven can automatically detect that the control unit is locked by SFD protection when you switch to long coding, adaptations or one-click applications and try to write data but the control unit is still locked. In this situation, the application will ask you to authorize the SFD unlock procedure.

To manually unlock an SFD-protected control unit, first log in to the vehicle, go to the desired control unit, press the SFD protection button and select the SFD option to unlock. After these steps, the control unit will be unlocked for 90 minutes. If you wish to lock the control unit more quickly, simply select the SFD lock option and the control unit will be locked immediately.

To access the SFD functionality for the first time, you will be asked to update your personal data*. This data is mandatory under our agreement with Volkswagen AG.

What is SFD2 / CEE protection?

SFD2 or CEE is the highest level of DCD and can be found in VAG vehicles from model year 2024 onwards.

1 – What is SFD2 / CEE?

SFD2 or The EEC is protection and can be found in VAG vehicles of model year 2024 at various stages of expansion. Depending on the stage of expansion, a higher or lower degree of protection attacks, which is in point 3: “How do I know if my vehicle contains SFD2 protection?” This protection is the result of several UN or EU Guidelines on the safety of vehicle diagnostics, particularly in the field of cybersecurity and software updates. Further information on these guidelines is available on the following official pages:

2 – Which vehicles are currently protected by SFD2?

In general, SFD2 can be protected in vehicles of model year 2024. We have already seen this protection for the following vehicle models:

3 – How do I know if my vehicle has SFD2 protection?

On the one hand, an automatic scan can be used to determine whether the respective vehicle is protected by SFD2, on the other hand by a PR number query (parts list of… The second variant provides more precise results.

How to Check / Test / Verify Injector Values on Volkswagen Audi Seat Skoda 1.6 1.9 2.0 2.7 3.0 TDI CR and 2.0 FSI TSI TFSI with VCDS.

Role and operating principle

Located at the cylinder inlet or in the intake manifold, the injector sprays fuel in microscopic droplets at the end of the compression cycle.

For your car to start, air/fuel combustion must take place. The aim of the injection system is to calculate this fuel/air ratio so that combustion can take place.

The injector then releases the exact quantity of fuel, either directly into the intake manifold in the case of indirect injection (gasoline), or directly into the combustion chamber in the case of direct injection (diesel or gasoline).

Today, injections are managed by an electronic system, which improves engine performance and reduces fuel consumption and pollutant toxins released by the exhaust.

Causes of clogging

In principle, an injector has a fairly long service life. However, clogging problems are common. The cause is fuel quality, as well as scale and resin deposits caused by combustion, which end up clogging the injectors, reducing engine performance and increasing fuel consumption.

Symptoms of a clogged injector

A clogged injector often manifests itself through the following symptoms:

A reminder of how an injector works

The injector is part of your engine’s fuel supply system. The injectors on our TFSI engine are high-pressure injectors, which operate in direct injection mode (fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber).

Please note that we’re talking here about direct fuel injection with the Bosch Motronic MED 9.1 system (for our EA113 engine), but that this article applies in general to all engines using the group’s high-pressure injection system: FSI, TFSI or TFSI.

It’s the injector that releases the jet of fuel needed to feed the engine, also known as mist or vaporization.

How an injector works

During injection, the magnetic coil built into the injector is driven, creating a magnetic field. This excites the magnetic armature via a needle, the valve opens and fuel is injected (vaporized).

If the coil is no longer energized, the magnetic field collapses and the valve needle is pushed back into the valve seat by the pressure spring. Fuel flow is interrupted.

the upper part of the injector contains an electromagnetic core, controlled by the ECU, which raises the needle for injection.

Injection time

Secondly,injection duration is an important criterion for our engine, as is its cc capacity. The duration of this jet, also known as injection time, is controlled electrically by the engine management ECU, according to parameters read by sensors (engine temperature, accelerator pedal position, engine load determined by intake air pressure, etc.).

Causes of injector leakage

We often wonder why an injector can leak, and it’s a very good question.

On our TFSI engine, there are various “injection system failures”, some of which are due to impurities clogging an injector, resulting in a leak, as either :

they prevent the injector from closing properly (leakage)
they prevent fuel from flowing properly (clogged injector)

The fuel filter, even if you run on SP98, should be replaced every 60,000kms, according to the maintenance schedule.
However, in view of the feedback and observations on the various forums and groups, we strongly recommend replacing it every 30,000kms!

The consequences of a leaking injector

A leaking injector will hinder the proper operation of your injection system, and may even deteriorate it to the point of requiring replacement.

It should also be noted that a leaking injector can cause olfactory and respiratory nuisance for vehicle users, who breathe in fuel and oil vapors, and even more toxic fumes such as carbon monoxide.

Other consequences:

oil pollution with petrol, so the engine oil no longer lubricates the engine properly
oil level rises, leading to engine/turbo failure
combustion misfires
unbalanced load distribution between engine cylinders

How to detect injector failure

A malfunction can be detected by a number of indicators:

A lingering smell of fuel
A loss of power
Start-up problems
jerky acceleration
Smoke in the exhaust
A smell of gasoline if you open the oil filler cap
Missed after big sessions, the engine backfires a bit like a Pop & Bang.

When an injector malfunctions on an FSI / TSI / TFSI engine, you can expect combustion misfires. This is the most common phenomenon.
Fault codes may include: P0300, P0301 (for cylinder 1), P0302 (for cylinder 2), P0303 (for cylinder 3), P0304 (for cylinder 4).

You’ll probably only get misfiring on 1 or 2 cylinders, as it’s unlikely that all 4 injectors will be faulty at the same time (unless your injectors are counterfeit …)
Generally, when these fuel injectors are faulty, they get stuck, causing misfire problems.

Before assuming you have a fuel injector problem, you need to confirm that you do NOT have problems with the following, ignition coils, spark plugs (change every 40-60K) or carbon build-up, but we’ll see that it’s possible to test the injector RAIL too.

All the faults listed are more likely to cause misfiring. Once you’ve checked that none of these is a problem, you need to turn your attention to the injectors.

How do I test an injector leak at the VCDS?

Now, let’s see how you can test your injectors, without dismantling anything. This test will enable you to identify a leak on the injection rail.

To do this, we will use our VAGCOM cable and VCDS software, once the vehicle is at optimum operating temperature (water at 90c°).

Once on the Measurement blocks tab, select the following channels: 106, 141 and 230.

Our engine is running and we have a pressure of 49.68 bar on the rail.

Wait until the water has reached 90°C, then turn off the ignition.

The pressure should increase gradually, as shown here at 62.17 bar.

Now observe the value for a few minutes.

This value should increase significantly!

If it doesn’t (if it doesn’t increase), there must be a leak.

Injector inspection 2.7 / 3.0 V6 TDI Common Rail

For a simple injector check or because you’re having a problem with your V6 TDI, especially after a long drive. The white smoke and shaking you’re seeing could indeed be linked to worn injector seats, which is a valid assumption in this context. Here are some points to consider and possible checks to diagnose and solve the problem:

1. White exhaust smoke

The presence of white smoke can be due to a number of causes. In the context of a diesel engine, here are the possible causes:

Unburned fuel: As you mentioned, worn injector seats can lead to excessive fuel injection into the combustion chamber. This excess fuel may not burn completely, producing white smoke. This smoke is generally the result of incomplete diesel combustion.
Cooling problems: Another potential cause is a problem with the cooling system, such as a faulty cylinder head gasket. This can allow cooling water to enter the combustion chambers, also producing white smoke. If this is the case, you may also see signs of coolant loss or bubbles in the coolant.

2. Engine shaking

Shaking, especially at idle after prolonged operation, can be related to several problems:

Faulty injectors: Worn or faulty injectors can cause shaking due to irregular fuel injection. Worn injector seats can lead to leaks or incorrect atomization, which can cause engine vibration.
Combustion problems: Poor fuel combustion due to faulty injectors can also lead to jerking and reduced idle smoothness.

To assess the condition of your vehicle’s injectors using measurement value blocks 72 to 77 with a diagnostic tool such as VAG-COM (or VCDS), here’s a detailed guide to interpreting the values and detecting possible problems:

Reading Measurement Block Values

5 – Select measurement groups 72 to 77.

6 – Interpretation of Values: Each measurement group will display three values corresponding to different pressure levels (300 bar, 600 bar, 1,000 bar). Values are in milliseconds (ms) and should be read carefully.

Results analysis

For each measurement group, examine the values and compare them with the indicated thresholds. Here’s how to interpret the values provided:

Group 72

Values: -50 ms, -14 ms, -6 ms
- Analysis: The first value (-50 ms) is below the threshold of -45 ms, which may indicate significant needle seat wear for the corresponding injector.

Group 73

Values: -24 ms, -4 ms, -2 ms
- Analysis: None of the values exceed critical thresholds. Injectors appear to be in good condition.

Group 74

Values: -24 ms, -4 ms, -6 ms
- Analysis: None of the values exceed critical thresholds. Injectors appear to be in good condition.

Group 75

Values: -54 ms, -12 ms, -6 ms
- Analysis: The first value (-54 ms) exceeds the critical threshold of -45 ms, which may indicate significant needle seat wear.

Group 76

Values: -36 ms, -6 ms, -6 ms
- Analysis: None of the values exceed critical thresholds. Injectors appear to be in good condition.

Group 77

Values: -48 ms, -12 ms, -6 ms
- Analysis: The first value (-48 ms) exceeds the critical threshold of -45 ms, which may indicate significant needle seat wear.

Conclusion and actions

Defective injectors: Excessive negative values (e.g. -50 ms, -54 ms, -48 ms) indicate that some injectors may be defective due to needle seat wear.
Replacement: We recommend replacing the offending injectors to improve engine performance.

Summary of Critical Thresholds :

Introduction

Electronic speed limits can be frustrating for drivers who want to take full advantage of their vehicle’s performance, on the racetrack or Autobahn for example. This tutorial will guide you through the steps involved in modifying the electronic flange on your engine ECU, enabling you to increase the maximum speed allowed.

Initial Precautions

Before you start, bear in mind that this operation may affect the safety and legality of your driving. Do so at your own risk. Make sure you have a compatible VCDS cable and a basic knowledge of how to use it.
If the procedure doesn’t work on your vehicle despite the tutorial, the vmax must be modified in the engine mapping via engine reprogramming by an auto tuner/reprogrammer.

Proceed :
1 – Engine off, ignition off, connect your official VAG-COM VCDS cable to the computer, then plug the other end into your vehicle’s diagnostics socket.

2 – Switch on the ignition and run the VCDS program.

Line 1:

3 – Click on“Select”, then click on“01 – Motor”.

4 – Click on“Security Access – 16” then enter the code “27971”.

5 – Click on “Adaptation – 10”.

6 – On this page, at the very top, there is a drop-down menu.
In this drop-down menu, choose “Individually adjustable top speed limit”.

7 – On this same page, you’ll find a second menu at the bottom of the page.
On this menu, select the maximum speed in km/h (example: 300) then validate.

Step 2: Accessing the Engine Computer

1 – Engine off, ignition off, connect your official VAG-COM VCDS cable to the computer, then plug the other end into your vehicle’s diagnostic socket.

2 – Switch on the ignition and run the VCDS program.

3 – Click on“Select”, then click on “01 – Motor”.

Step 3: Login and Modification

For an EDC16 ECU, enter the login “12233” from “16 – Security Access”.
For an EDC15 calculator, enter the login “12233” from “11 – Login”.

This login unlocks the specific adaptations and allows you to consult the current flange value.
Note: Your login is taken into account as soon as you receive a confirmation message.
This procedure must be carried out with care!

Step 4: Reading the Flange Value

Depending on your ECU version, read the value of channel 18, 07 or 14 in “10 – Adaptation”.
You should see the current value of the speed limit, often set at 190 km/h.

Step 5: Modify Flange Value

If you wish to increase the maximum speed, enter the login corresponding to the channel where the flange is located.
To modify this value, you must first enter the login: 20973 for those who have the flange value in channel 18.
Or login: 28575 for those who have the flange value in channel 07
Enter Login from 16 – Security Access or 11 – Login depending on your calculator.
Modify the bridle value by increasing the limit. In some cases, you won’t be able to exceed 250 km/h (see 300 km/h).

ATTENTION: don’t play with this value at this stage. With this first login, you can only lower the limiter value. So if you lower it and the other logins don’t work, you could be locking up your vehicle for good!
PLEASE DO NOT lower the speed OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE IT! VAG Coding is not responsible for your modifications.

If you’re a regular LOGS and AutoScan user at VCDS VAGCOM / OBDeleven, and you check your vehicle’s fault codes from time to time, you’ve probably noticed that the LOGS shows a “Fault Priority”. But what purpose does this period serve? What does fault priority mean?

In VCDS and OBDeleven software, the fault priority number is used to classify a fault according to its importance, from the most important (number 1) to the least important (number 7). The 0 corresponds to something not defined by the manufacturer, and the 8 is simply general information and is of no use, or can be forgotten.

Basic fault code information includes :

Date and time of first recording.
Mileage on first detection.
Priority to classify the urgency of the fault (from 1 to 8).
Fault frequency: Number of times the fault has been detected.

Adapting the injector correction values is a crucial step in the maintenance of a Volkswagen Audi Seat Skoda engine, particularly when replacing an injector or the engine control unit. Once calibration of the steering angle sensor (G85) has been completed, the 44-speed power steering module (J500) may have DTC C10AC – Unlearned steering limit stops. The steering limit stops must be adjusted as follows:
Start the engine and turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and hold for 5 to 10 seconds. The vehicle should beep. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and the same beep should sound. Straighten the wheels and wait 5-10 seconds while observing the steering and traction control warnings. They should extinguish, although it’s advisable to scan the vehicle again for DTCs before test-driving.

Notes: To confirm the status of G85 calibration, refer to group MVB 032.
If the basic parameter group generates an error message, check that the live G85 reading is ±1.5°. Readings such as 359° would indicate that the slip ring has mechanically extended a full turn.
The slip ring is the electronic module of the 16-way steering wheel. If the vehicle has deployed airbags and the slip ring has been replaced, ensure that the module is long-coded using VCDS.
Some Audi A4 B8 8K/A5 8T/Q5 8R models may have address 1B-Active Steering (J792) installed in addition to the 16-way steering wheel electronics.
If mechanical repairs are carried out on the front end or front end alignment, these vehicles may require additional basic setting steps to resolve the DTC: 01087 – Basic setting not carried out.
